Welcome to The Plough Inn.
Simply visit us to eat and drink or maybe spend the night and stay in one of our delightfully decorated rooms. You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome from your hosts Bob, Cynthia and Elliott Emery. Our privately owned 16th century Inn is situated in 9 acres of its own land set in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the River Derwent. Our tastefully decorated and intimate restaurant offers the ideal enviroment in which to dine and relax in an informal atmosphere.
Relax and take a meal in our cosy bar complete with real log fires. We serve hand pulled ales and a large range of fine wines from around the world.
Our menu consists of dishes produced fresh by our head chef and his dedicated team. The menu is a mix of modern European and traditional food using only the finest quality produce brought together in an eclectic style.

With over twenty main dishes to choose from there is sure to be something to suit everyones taste. Complimented by a wide range of excellent wines from around the world and finally a night cap with over thirty whiskies, brandies and liquors to choose from.
Our extensive menu ranges from good old home-made pies to fine international cuisine using only the finest quality produce. Typical dishes include:
- Brochette of Scallops and Serrano Ham with Chargrilled Baby Gem, Roast Cherry Tomatoes and Aged Balsamic
- Loin of Monkfish with Rataouille, Dauphinoise potato and Sorrel Sauce
- Taste of Lamb, Tea Smoked Loin, Slow Roast Breast and Mini Suet Pudding with a Garden Pea and Rosemary Risotto
- Rib of Scottish Beef for Two People with Hand Cut Chips, Vegetables and a Peppercorn Sauce
- And a selection of Vegetarian Dishes and smaller portions for children.
An idyllic location just outside Hathersage offering up a very nice pub, restaurant and rooms; it’s no more than the throw of a bakewell pudding from the dabbling meanderings of the river Derwent.

All our bedrooms have en-suite shower, colour TV, Tea/Coffee making facilities and hairdryers.
The three recently converted luxury bedrooms across the cobbled courtyard in the old barn also offer full bathroom, video, Hi-Fi and sitting area. Restored using local materials, leaving exposed beams and brickwork, they offer every comfort that discerning guests would expect.
